Founded in 1897 in the Swiss Alps, Lonza today is a wellrespected global company with more than 100 sites and offices and approximately 15,500 full-time employees worldwide.
Lonza Pharma&Biotech provides the biotech market with the tools life sciences researchers use to develop and test therapeutics, from basic research to final product release. Products and services range from cell culture and discovery technologies for research, to quality control tests and software to ensure product quality.
Research tools
Lonza Bioscience Solutions develops and commercialises the Nucleofector®Technology, a non-viral gene transfer product for primary cells and hard-to-transfect cell lines. Primary cells more accurately reflect the condition and behavior of cells within an organism when compared to commonly used laboratory cell lines. Therefore, they are important model systems for both basic and clinical research. The LV Unit expands the proven 4DNucleofector ® System to enable closed, larger-scale transfection of up to 1×109 cells.
QC Endotoxin and Pyrogen Testing
Lonza’s wide range of pyrogen and endotoxin testing solutions supports your efforts to efficiently meet regulatory requirements for the safety of all injectable drugs and implantable medical device products. In 2021, we expanded our PyroTec® PRO Automated Robotic Solution for endotoxin testing with the PyroWave® Reader add-on that was designed specifically for use with the sustainable PyroGene® Recombinant Factor C (rFC) Assay. The PyroTec® PRO Solution, now compatible with our PYROGENT®-5000 Turbidimetric LAL Assay, Kinetic-QCL® Chromogenic LAL Assay and the PyroGene® rFC Assay, expands the options available for hands-free automated endotoxin testing. Powered by WinKQCL® Software, this complete system reduces errors, streamlines workflows and meets data integrity requirements allowing QC microbiologists to choose the endotoxin test method best suited for their testing needs.
We further expanded our offering of sustainable testing products to include the PyroCell® Monocyte Activation Test, a sensitive and reliable detection method for endotoxins and non-endotoxin pyrogens (NEP) to help ensure product safety and compliance while eliminating reliance on animal-based pyrogen tests.
