Farmaforum has put the finishing touch to its ninth edition with record figures that exceed those of the previous year. More than 7,000 people attended the event, which has already become a major meeting point for industry suppliers. «We are very happy with the great reception Farmaforum 2023 has had. We are excited about the 10th edition, which will take place on 25 and 26 September 2024 in Hall 9 of IFEMA,» said Eugenio Pérez de Lema, CEO of Farmaforum, at the close of the ninth edition.

Farmaforum 2023 has had an even more diverse and enriching programme with specialised conferences in the areas of Health&Research Forum, Biotechforum, Innovaforum, APIsforum, Nutraforum and Cosmeticsforum. One of the most outstanding congresses was Cannabisforoum.

The medical cannabis industry advocates for urgent regulation

The medical cannabis industry in Spain is calling for the establishment of a clear path that will allow the needs of patients to be met with guarantees, particularly those who require treatments to mitigate pain. However, there are still many regulatory challenges facing providers, patients and health professionals to make the therapeutic use of this substance a reality in the short term in our country.

This was made clear at Cannabisforum, the medical cannabis forum that held its second edition in Hall 14 of IFEMA in Madrid. A cycle that has become one of the main attractions of the 9th edition of Farmaforum, the leading trade fair for the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cosmetics and Laboratory Technology Industry in Spain, and whose round tables have brought together experts and authoritative voices, who have presented the latest developments and legislative changes affecting this sector.

«We are talking about something very important, focusing on the patient. We want to help the patient, and we know that there is a cannabis market that, in order to reach this current point, has had to start from a black market, and we are going to have to adapt everything. Making this transition is not easy,» said Carola Pérez, president of the Spanish Medical Cannabis Observatory, at the first of the conferences, «Cannabinoids and their Pharmacokinetics: Pharmaceutical forms and routes of administration».
